18th Century Italian Paint Decorated Commode Faux stone painted rectangular top.  Two front drawers and sides are painted and decorated with classical figures, foliate scrolls, fruit, and grape vines in the manner of Pompei. Two drawers with original pulls and tapered legs, minimal paint flaking and losses, and other wear consistent with age and use. Black and gold coloring with vibrant reds, blues, and greens throughout. Indeed a work of art.
